Dr Sukendah and Prof Sudarsono before 'Kopyor' Coconut Seedlings

Dr. Sukendah of UPN Veteran, East Java visited PMB Lab in May 6, 2011. Dr. Sukendah was an alumnus of Agronomy Graduate Program who worked in induction of somatic embryo of ‘Kopyor’ coconut and molecular analysis of genes associated with the ‘Kopyor’ phenotypes as her PhD disertation research.

Dr. Sukendah did part of her PhD research program at PMB Lab and at Center for Agricultural Biotechnology (CAB), Kasetsart University. She has published a number of scientific papers based on her dissertation research and obtained best paper recognition on her following publication:

Sukendah, Hugo Volkaert, and Sudarsono. 2009. Isolation and analysis of DNA fragment of genes related to ‘Kopyor’ trait in coconut plant. Indonesian Journal of Biotechnology 14(2):1169-1178. December 2009.

Two patent applications were also applied based on results of her dissertation research. Those applications are still pending at this moment.

Dr. Sukendah visited PMB Lab. for the purpose of attending PhD advisory committee meeting for Ismail Maskromo. She is a member of advisory committee for Ismail’s PhD program. All PMB Lab staffs and associated students welcome her back to this lab.
