Dr. Catur Hermanto Visited PMB Lab

Catur Hermanto of Balitbu

Dr. Catur Hermanto of Balitbu, Solok, brief visit to PMB Lab

On May 12, 2011, Dr. Catur Hermanto of Balai Penelitian Buah-buahan (Balitbu) visited PMB Lab, Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, IPB, Bogor. He is currently appointed as head of Balitbu. Dr. Hermanto’s brief visit to PMB Lab. coincided with the second phase of Agus Sutanto’s PhD qualifying examination. Dr. Hermanto is a member of PhD supervisory committee for Agus Sutanto, who happens to be one of his research staff at Balitbu.

Dr. Hermanto was actually an alumni of IPB himself since his BSc degree was taken at IPB. When asked about what are his plans after being in charge as head of Balitbu, he replied diplomatically by saying “My short term intentions are to reduce adrenalin and increase oxytosin.” By that he infers that the appointment as head of Balitbu may not just be an easy task. It requires some sort of stress management. Reducing adrenalin (one of human growth hormone related to stress) ad increasing oxytosin (one of human growth hormone related to relaxation and feel  good feeling) may just be the best remedial for Dr. Hermanto’s heavy tasks ahead.

All PMB Lab staffs and associated students wish Dr. Hermanto’s luck in his new position as head of Balitbu. We hope he will be successful in managing one of the prestigious research institutions under the Agency for Agriculture Research and Development (AARD), Ministry of Agriculture, Republic of Indonesia.
