Kopyor Team Research & Kadisbun Lamsel at Agom Jaya Kopyor provenance

A research team from Institut Pertanian Bogor/IPB (Prof. Sudarsono) and Balai Penelitian Tanaman Kelapa dan Palma Lainnya/Balitka (Prof. Hengki Novarianto and Ir. Ismail Maskromo, MS.) have gone to Kalianda, Lampung on Saturday May 7-12, 2011. The purpose of the travel was to survey, find, and select ‘Kopyor’ coconut provenance. The provenance is used as progenitor for producing ‘Kopyor’ coconut planting materials (seedlings).

In this first survey, there are three locations that have ‘Kopyor’ coconut populations in single block. The three locations are:

  1. Desa Agom Jaya, Kecamatan Kalianda, Lampung Selatan.
  2. Desa Palem Bapang, Kecamatan Kalianda, Lampung Selatan
  3. Desa Kecapi, Kecamatan Kalianda, Lampung Selatan

In the first site, Desa Agom Jaya, the Research Team recorded 100 of ‘Kopyor’ coconut provenance among a total of 282 coconut populations investigated. Results of observation at Desa Agom Jaya indicated that the harvested Kopyor coconut fruits ranged from 1 to 3 fruit (s) per inflorescence.

In the second site, Desa Palem Bapang, the Research Team recorded 69 of ‘Kopyor’ coconut provenance among total of 134 coconut populations investigated. The recorded observation in Desa Palem Bapang indicated that the harvested ‘Kopyor’ coconut fruits ranged from 1 to 4 fruits per inflorescence.

In the third site, Desa Kecapi, the Research Team recorded 116 of ‘Kopyor’ coconut provenance among total of 658 coconut populations investigated. The recorded observation at Desa Kecapi indicated that the harvested ‘Kopyor’ coconut fruits ranged from 1 to 3 per inflorescent.
