Dini Dinarti – News from Beltsvile, Maryland – 2

During his three months training at Sustainable and Perrenial Crops Laborator (SPCL)y, USDA-ARS, Beltsvile, Maryland, Dini Dinarti joined World Cocoa Foundation (WCF) – 19th Partnership Meeting at San Francisco, California in May 18-19, 2011. Dr Amaro of SPCL, USDA-ARS accompanied her during her participation in the WCF meeting.

Dini said that she met a number of entities associated with world cacao/chocolate businesses. She also learned what is the weakness of Indonesian cacao beans from this WCF meeting. Dini informed us that the sequencing of Forastero dan Criolo cacao genome have been completed and that the scientists are in the process of completing the sequencing of Trinitario cacao genome.

Dini Dinarti also said that there was one day in the WCF meeting dedicated to discuss cacao in Indonesia. Unfortunately, there was not any official participant from Indonesia attended the meeting.
