ABSTRACT

Pati Dwarf Kopyor coconut originated from Pati, Central Java is one of the Kopyor coconut population originated from Indonesia.  Three varieties of Pati Dwarf Kopyor coconut (Brown, Green, and Yellow Dwarf Kopyor coconut varieties) out of six potential varieties have been officially released as local superior varieties by Minister of Agriculture, Republic of Indonesia at the end of 2010.  The objective of this research was to evaluate the stability of kopyor fruit production among provenances of Pati Dwarf Kopyor coconuts. Evaluations were conducted especially for the three recently released varieties of Kopyor coconuts. The locations of this research were at Tayu, Margoyoso and Dukuhseti sub-district, Pati, Central Java. The activities were conducted in 2011. In each sub-district, representatives of 10 Kopyor coconut provenances for each Kopyor variety were observed; therefore, a total of 90 trees were recorded in this experiment. Observations were conducted for number of total fruits and the n umber of Kopyor coconut fruits harvested from each inflorescence. Three inflorescences were selected for each of the selected provenance. Results of the observation indicated the total number of Kopyor provenances existed in Sub-district Tayu were 814, in Margoyoso were 552, and in Dukuh Seti were 585 Kopyor coconut trees, respectively. Among those provenances, not all of them are suitable for parental line and for producing Kopyor coconut seedlings. The selected provenances for producing Kopyor coconut seedlings were 787 of Green Dwarf Kopyor, 477 of Brown Dwarf Kopyor, and 156 of Yellow Dwarf Kopyor coconuts, respectively. The average of total fruits harvested ranged from 8.6-11.6 fruits per inflorescence. On the other hand, the average of Kopyor fruits harvested ranged from 2.0–2.3 fruits per inflorescence. The percentage of Kopyor fruit production per inflorescence ranged from 33%-42%. Complete estimate of total fruit production and total Kopyor fruit productivity per year among Pati Dwarf Kopyor coconut varieties will be presented.
