The 10th International Sago Symposium was conducted in October 29-30, 2011 at IPB International Convention Center (IICC). The opening of the symposium was done by Ministry of Agriculture, Republic of Indonesia.
According to the chairman of Sago Symposium Organizing Committee (Dr. Iskandar Lubis), the selected topic of the 10th International Sago Symposium was “Sago for food security, bio-energy, and industry: from research to market.” In the two days symposium, there were 5 invited speakers presentation, 30 oral, and 27 poster ones. The symposium was attended by at least 141 participants from at least five countries (Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, and the Philipines).
At the closing ceremonies of the two days symposium, Prof. HMH Bintoro (Chairman of Indonesian Sago Palm Society) presented the conclusion of Sago Society business meeting and the head of the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture (Dr. Agus Purwito) presented the closing speech. Over all, the symposium was a big success and PMB Lab staffs and associated graduate students congratulate Indonesian Sago Society, the Steering Committee and the Organizing Committee for successfully organizing the symposium.
