As Part of SGRO-IPB Oil Palm Research – Tinche (MSc/S2 Students) Visited SGRO Lab and Field Station in Palembang

As a follow-up of Sampoerna Agro (SGRO) and IPB research collaboration to investigate the molecular analysis of virescens characters in oil palm, an S2 (MSc) student from Plant Breeding and Biotechnology Major (Ir. Tinche) visited SGRO Molecular Lab and Surya Adi field station in Palembang. Tinche was scheduled to take part in lab and field station orientation to familiarize with the SGRO research sites.

Tinche visited SGRO research sites in Palembang started at 25 October 2011. The agenda of her orientation visit were as follows:

25 Oct. Discuss with statistics  team about sampling techniques for molecular research Integrated  Laboratory, SGRO Yulia Puspitaningrum
26 Oct. Discuss about oil palm breeding activities and field visit Surya Adi Field Station Ario Panji Raganata
27 Oct. Field visit to DxP Nigeria  areas. Identifi-cation and field obser-vation of  Virescens dan Nigrescens characters Surya Adi Field Station Mario Rafael Sirait
28 Oct. Collection of leaf samples of DxP Nigeria for molecular  analysis (1 progeny DxP; 16 provenances x 3 rep (total 48 samples) Surya Adi Field Station Mario Rafael Sirait
29 Oct. Back to Palembang Travel
31Oct.-3 Nov. DNA isolation from 48 leaf samples and Optimation of various Molecular techniques Molecular Lab, SGRO Yulismawati

All PMB Lab staffs and associated graduate students wish Tinche a productive visit to SGRO at Palembang. We hope that through SGRO and IPB collaboration – more understanding of virescens characters in oil palm will be elucidated.
