Writing scientific article in internationally recognized journal is still not an easy task to do to most of Indonesian scientists. Today, November 10, 2011, at least 70 participants – graduate students and staffs of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) have the opportunity to take part in one day training on how to prepare good scientific publication for internationally recognized journals.
The one day training was conducted by ‘Direktorat Riset & Kerjasama,’ IPB – Bogor. In the one day training, Prof. Diego Mantovani, Professor in Biomaterials and Bioengineering, Department of Mining, Metallurgical, and Materials Engineering, Faculty of Science and Engeneering, Laval University, Canada has facilitated the training activities.
In the one day training, Prof. Mantovanni provided the participants with tips and tricks on how to compose scientific manuscript for publication in internationally recognized journals. He also provided many hints on how to start writing scientific publication. In his opinion, the best way to write publication is starting from the abstract part. The anatomy of the effective abstract were then comprehensively discussed.
At the end of the day, Prof. Mantovani gave two manuscripts to all participants. The participants were then asked to review the manuscripts and decide whether it is acceptable or rejected for publication. The participants have also had to give the reasons why it should be accepted or rejected.
Once the participants completed the assignment, as a conclusion, Prof. Mantovani revealed what were the real outcome and why one of the manuscript was accepted and the other was rejected. It was a very enlightening activity at the end of the training.
As a follow-up of the Writing Scientific Publication in International Journal – Training, IPB will be offering grant for writing international publications. This grant is opened to all staffs and IPB graduate students. The due date for applying this grant is December 12, 2011. Check IPB website for more informations.
