During my visit to University of Sumatera Utara (USU) in November 16-17, 2011, I run into one of the many PMB Lab-PhD/S3 alumnus (and MSc/S2 too since he took his S2 and S3 program at PMB Lab, IPB). He is Dr.Ir. Edy Irwansyah, MS.

Currently, Dr. Edy Irwansyah is active as Executive Secretary of Rubber Association of Indonesia (GAPKINDO), North Sumatera Branch, Medan, Indonesia. He is also participating in BSc teaching activity at Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara (UISU) and MSc/PhD teaching at University of North Sumatera (USU). He already has two children and they are growing up already.

During his MSc. program at PMB Lab, Dr. Edy Irwansyah was studying “Effects of Peanut Stripe Virus (PStV) infection in Growth and Yield of Peanut.” He continued his PhD in the same lab and under Prof. Sudarsono supervision. His PhD disertation was on “Oil Palm Quantitative Trait (Oil Component) Analysis and Preliminary Mapping of the Traits Using RAPD Markers.”

We at PMB Lab always welcome him to visit Bogor anytime and wait for his activity updates from Medan. All PMB Lab staffs and graduate students wish Dr. Edy Irwansyah success in his career. We also wish he and his family are all well.
