Part 3. Visit by Ms. Virginia Sopyla – Fellowship and Reseach Programs Officer of World Cocoa Foundation (WCF) To Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, IPB, Bogor-INDONESIA

Fellowship and Research Program Officer of World Cocoa Foundation (WCF), Ms. Virginia Sopyla – visited Department of Agronomy and Horticulture (AGH), IPB, Bogor on Monday – February 6, 2012. Ms. Sopyla gave a brief presentation on the World Cocoa Foundation and its activities, especially in Indonesia before staffs of Department AGH and associated graduate students (PhD and MSc students). After presentations, some of the graduate students and staffs continued agenda of visit by conducting informal discussion about cacao and other related stuffs.

Virginia also visited ‘Pusat Penelitian dan Pengembangan Tanaman Perkebunan [Indonesian Research Center for Estate Crops – PUSLITBUN]’ and discussed with a number its researchers. Virginia also met with two staffs of ‘Balai Penelitian Tanaman Industri [Industrial Crops Research Institute – BALITTRI].’ Balittri is the newly founded institution with the responsibility of developing packages of technology for sustainable production of some important industrial crops in Indonesia, such as: cacao, coffee, rubber and tea.
