Monsanto Representatives Visited Faculty of Agriculture, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) – Bogor

Representative of Monsanto Indonesia visited Faculty of Agriculture, Bogor Agricultural University, Bogor, Indonesia to explore possibilities of conducting collaborative activities. The meeting among Faculty of Agriculture representatives, a number of Department of Agronomy staffs, and Monsanto representatives were done on February 3, 2012.

Attended the meeting as Monsanto Indonesia representatives were Askif Pasaribu, Herry Kristanto, and Yovita Sutanto. The Faculty of Agriculture representatives were lead by Dr. Syarifah Iis Aisyah. Attended the meeting as staffs of Department of Agronomy and Horticulture include: Dr. Sobir, Dr. Yudiwanti W.E. Kusumo, Dr. Desta Wirnas, Dr. M. Syukur and Prof. Sudarsono.

The purposes of the meeting were to discuss what type of services Faculty of Agriculture, IPB, Bogor can offer to Monsanto and explore what Monsanto activities that can be offered and shared to Faculty of Agriculture, IPB. Monsanto also informed Faculty of Agriculture about fellowship for PhD student to study in the US and work with rice breeding and biotechnology. Although the competition for this scholarship is tough, there is a chance for Monsanto Indonesia to guide any interested student to prepare good application document so that it increases the possibility of success.

Moeover, there is limited number of scholarship applicant from Indonesia, therefore, Indonesian candidate may have a better chance. For more info for this scholarship, please contact Monsanto Indonesia.

All PMB Lab staffs and graduate students wsih that the collaboration between Monsanto dan IPB will materialize soon. We hope that fruitful activities will follow this consultative meeting.
