Agus Rahmat, an S3 (PhD.) graduate student associated with PMB Lab, did his S3 (PhD.) research proposal seminar (“Kolokium“) on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 11.00-12.00. The topic of his research proposal seminar was about Functional Analysis of OsNAC Expression in Transgenic Rice and Tobacco.
Agus Rahmat is pursuing his S3 (PhD.) degree at Plant Breeding and Biotechnology (PBT) major, School of Graduate Studies, IPB, Bogor since 2009. Prof. Sudarsono of PMB Lab., Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, IPB Bogor-Indonesia participates as a member of Agus Rahmat’s S3 (PhD.) advisory committee. Dr. Hajrial Aswidinnoor is the chairman of his S3 (PhD.) advisory committee. Currently, he has completed almost all the academic course requirements for his S3 (PhD.) degree and been in the process of conducting his S3 (PhD.) dissertation research.
One of Agus Rahmat significant question that he want to answer in his S3 (PhD.) dissertation research is how will the OsNAC expression in transgenic plants affects their tolerance against dehydration stress. To answer such a question, Agus Rahmat will use transgenic tobacco (as model plant) and transgenic rice as target plant), respectively. He will generate both OsNAC over-expressing and under-expressing transgenic plants. Subsequently, he will evaluate the response of all transgenic plants against dehydration stress and observe the possible existence of differential response among the transgenic lines against stress. His research finding will be useful in developing possible ways to create highly tolerance transgenic rice against drought stress.
PMB Lab staffs and associated graduate students congratulate Agus Rahmat for successfully completing his S3 (PhD.) research proposal seminar (“Kolokium“). We hope that he will be able to start conducting his S3 (PhD.) dissertation research and completing his S3 (PhD.) program in due time.
