Eka Fibriyanti, an S2 (MSc.) graduate student associated with PMB Lab, did her S2 (MSc.) research proposal seminar (“Kolokium“) on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 11.00-12.00. The title of her research proposal seminar was about orchid propagation and molecular (SSR) analysis.
Eka Fibriyanti is pursuing her S2 (MSc.) degree at Plant Breeding and Biotechnology (PBT) major, School of Graduate Studies, IPB, Bogor since 2010. Prof. Sudarsono of PMB Lab., Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, IPB Bogor-Indonesia participates as a member of Eka Fibriyanti’s S2 (MSc.) advisory committee. Dr. Dewi Sukma is the chairman of her S2 (MSc.) advisory committee. Currently, she has completed almost all the academic course requirements for her S2 (MSc.) degree and been in the process of conducting her S2 (MSc.) thesis research.
One of Eka Fibriyanti significant questions that she want to answer in her S2 (MSc.) thesis research are development of suitable media and culture environment for generating clones of individual F2 progeny and characterizing the genetic profiles of the F2 population, respectively. To answer such a question, Eka Fibriyanti will use SSR marker to genotype F2 populations of selected orchids. Subsequently, she will use the genotype as markers for the clone population derived from each individual of F2 progeny. Her research finding will be useful to aid the registration of a newly breed orchid clone.
PMB Lab staffs and associated graduate students congratulate Eka Fibriyanti for successfully completing her S2 (MSc.) research proposal seminar (“Kolokium”). We hope that she will be able to start conducting her S2 (MSc.) thesis research and completing her S2 (MSc.) program in due time.
