TRAINING FOR MONSANTO – INDONESIA STAFFS: “BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF GENETIC ENGINEERING WITH SPECIAL EMPHASIZE ON INSECT RESISTANCE AND HERBICIDE TOLERANCE”

Department of Agronomy and Horticulture (AGH), Faculty of Agriculture, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) has organized Biotechnology Training for MONSANTO – INDONESIA Staffs: “BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF GENETIC ENGINEERING WITH SPECIAL EMPHASIZE ON INSECT RESISTANCE AND HERBICIDE TOLERANCE.”  Eight Monsanto – Indonesia staffs participated in the Biotechnology Training activity. In this training, 10 staffs associated with Biotechnology Section of Department of AGH participated as lecturer and assistant lectures.

In the opening ceremony, Dr. Ir. Agus Purwito, MSc. stated that : “This is the first join activity conducted by Department of AGH and Monsanto-Indonesia. We hope that there will be other future collaboration activities jointly conducted between the two parties.” In his introductory remark, Mr. Askif Pasaribu – the Technology Development Team Coordinator stated that : “As part of the Monsanto Technology Development Team, the staffs have to understand the basic knowledge of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering. We hope that by participating in this Biotechnology Training at IPB, the staffs will gain such understanding.” The training activity was conducted in April 24-26, 2012.
